Taste of the West Gold Award 2011, 2015 and 2016

Taste of the West Logo

In recognition of all the hard work that we put in to sourcing the best quality local meat and produce we have been awarded the Gold award by the Taste of the West not once, not twice but three times! This is a very prestigous award handed out to only the finest establishments and we are incredibly proud to be on that list. The awards highlight successful and high quality businesses across food and drink production, hospitality and food retail and are judged by industry experts including chefs, food technologists, food and food preparation trainers/teachers, trade buyers, food writers, home economists and more.

What the Judges said

Here are just a few of the comments made by the Taste of the West Judges about our shop.
"A lovely little shop with a clear commitment to local sourcing"
"The quality and freshness of the products on sale was superb, in particular the meat was of great quality and value. Fabulous dairy products too."
"The service was excellent. Both members of staff warmly welcomed the judges as they entered the shop and they were both aware of the provenance of all the articles asked about."
"The outlet had a lovely, traditional feel, very friendly and welcoming"
"The judges were both impressed by the shop and plan to revisit, particularly for the high quality meat products, though living some distance away."
"The attractive smells emanating from the work area behind the counter appealed to the judges’ senses causing them to perhaps purchase more than they really needed!"
"All village shops should be like this!"

Needless to say we are very proud of this acheivement and will make sure we always strive to be even better.
